At Ethos Events we specialise in custom designed and built backdrop pieces in Melbourne. We have our hire store online that you can access here, for existing backdrop packages. Be that as it may, we’d like to share one of our recent projects we created for Emerald’s 30th Birthday.
Our beautiful friends and client Emerald, came to us with an idea for her 30th Birthday. She wanted a backdrop, that would present photos of her from the ages of 0-30, a photo backdrop! Emerald wanted the backdrop to be big, elegant and cohesive. As a result she also decided on a shade of green to match her dress and green shortly became the underlying cohesive element of our design and her birthday party.
Custom Backdrop Mockup
This was our initial mockup for our custom backdrop Melbourne. We knew Emerald was after a green, although she didn;t have a specific green hue picked out. So we asked her for an image of her party dress and extracted some greens from that. We played around with a few variations to come up with these.
Chosen Backdrop Design
This was the favourite custom backdrop chosen by Emerald. We decided on a cornice type framing around the edges of the backdrop to elevate the design and give it a sense of elegance. We got lucky with our typography and font choice as Emerald approved our customised writing on the first go! (Woohoo)

Custom Backdrop Framing
How gorgeous is the timber moulding we chose to frame our photo backdrop!? We purchased these from bunnings, they have a wide range of types and designs. We went with pine (for density and weight) and chose this gorgeous tiered design that would look almost regal. Accordingly you can browse some pine mouldings here. As a result of our chosen design we chose came in length of 2.4m, while great for our large backdrop of 2m height wouldn’t fit in my car. You can get the staff to cut down pieces of timber for you in the workshop.
The Finished Backdrop Melbourne
Here’s the backdrop with its green frame and vinyl title. We printed 30 of Emerald’s photos from each year of her life chosen my Emerald. We decided to print them in black and white to keep a cohesive feeling throughout them all. They were printed in the standard 4×6 inch size. The hardest part was making sure these went on straight and distanced cohesively! As a result we love the way in turned out and so did our birthday girl!
The Backdrop is Ready to Party
Here is the backdrop all set up in a nightclub venue in the city of Melbourne. Ultimately we are super happy with how this turned out! Thanks Emerald for trusting us with your idea and 30th birthday party!
