We recently designed and built a custom welcome sign for our client’s 30th birthday party. If you read our previous blog post you would have seen the photo backdrop we also designed and built for that same party. Because we shared the process of creating the photo backdrop, we thought we would do the same with our welcome sign.
Custom Welcome Sign Design
If you didn’t get a chance to read our previous blog, here’s a little sneak peak at what we recently created. This is relevant as these pieces worked as a set for our client Emerald’s party. Cute right!?

With this in mind, we started to design a welcome sign that would stand out yet complement this backdrop. Here is the design we came up with and was client approved!
We continued the framing from the previous backdrop, using the same timber moulding and paint to achieve the same colour. We then though up these custom built legs that would elevate the welcome sign off the ground and give it some height. This would ofcourse be complemented with a in built basket that would hold an arrangement of florals. How gorgeous!

Custom Welcome Sign Build

We build this one out of mdf, using the offcuts of the original board to construct the flower basket, attaching it using liquid nails and small nails. We then attached the legs which we built out of hardwood timber and painted black. Here’s a look at what our welcome sign looked like painted.

Our freshly painted welcome sign juxtaposed next to our photo backdrop. What do you think, do they complement each other well?
The Final Product

This is the welcome sign all finished and set up for Emerald’s 30th. We attached some black vinyl lettering in matching font to the photo backdrop and our floral arrangement. Emerald didn’t give us a specific colour palette for the colours, but did mention she liked bright colours. With that in mind this is what we came up. We utilised some pastels with the lilac and pink to coincide with the pastel green frame. We also added pops of hot pink and bright orange to liven up the bouquet. Then we squeezed in some touches of green to harmonise the arrangement.
